• Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych was founded by the Polish government in 1951 with the help of Fiat.
• The Polish government initially offered a million tons of coal for the licence, but eventually paid Fiat 130 million zloty for the technical documentation and another 250 million for the moulds and tooling in 1948.
• The 125p version of the car was in production from 1983 and only ended in 1991.
• In Egypt, where these cars were also produced, FSO cars were very popular and the last one rolled off the production line at the end of 2002.
• A total of 1,445,689 units were produced, of which 874,966 were exported.
• The first cars were made from original FIAT parts.
• All the wheels were fitted with disc brakes, which was a very advanced solution for the time.
• The price in Czechoslovakia was set by Mototechna at 68,400 CZK, i.e. converted to today's prices about 33 350 €.
• For the time of its creation it was actually a modern very safe car.
