• The Opel Recod C "Black Widow" was built in secret alongside the production car, so that the Opel factory management would not know about it.
• The design of the sports car was entrusted to the Latvian-born Latvian designer Anatole Carl Lapin by the American GM.

• The sports car with the starting number 41, which was raced among others by the famous F1 driver Niki Lauda, was lost somewhere near Vienna in the early 1970s.
• It is believed that car 41 was not scrapped but is in the collection of an unknown car enthusiast.
• In 2012, Opel built a replica of the 41, and since no complete plans survived, the original designer A. Lapin helped with the build.
