The model kit numbered 55 features has adjustable control surfaces of the delta wings and a removable cockpit canopy to place a specially modified “half-figure” pilot. Under the wings there are two AIM-120 missiles, an additional fuel tank and two Bombkapsel pods for glide submunitions. The landing gear legs can be easily removed. The assembled model can stand on its own landing gear or can be safely displayed on the new TeCh display stand with a description.

The development of an aircraft capable of taking off and landing on emergency road bases was assigned to the talented Swedish designer Erik Bratt. In 1963 SAAB presented the plans and budget to military representatives. Half a year later construction of seven prototypes began. The first flight was performed by pilot Erik Dahlström in February 1967 and in April of the same year the Swedish parliament approved the purchase of 83 aircraft. Yes, you read that correctly. In Sweden it took less than four years from the first decision to the start of serial production of a new aircraft. Several versions were gradually developed, including a trainer and a reconnaissance version. The AJS variant was equipped with the new Ericsson PS-46/A radar capable of performing strike, fighter and reconnaissance missions. At the time of its introduction the VIGGEN was one of the most advanced aircraft in the world. It served in the Royal Swedish Air Force until 2005, when it was replaced by the JAS-39 Gripen. In all variants a total of 329 aircraft were produced. The fighters were never deployed outside Sweden and served exclusively for the protection of the country’s airspace. However, they were repeatedly used to deter Soviet intruders.
