• Germany had been developing the first rocket launcher based on an idea by General Walter Dornberger since 1928.
• The 150mm Model 41 was the first of a series of rocket launchers that Germany produced from 1937 until the end of World War II.
• The rocket launcher barrels were most often mounted on anti-tank gun chassis, but also on tank or wheeled vehicle chassis.
• American soldiers named the rocket launcher "Screaming Mimi" after the screaming sound of the rockets flying overhead.
• Initially, hot-pressed gunpowder was used as rocket fuel, but during production cracks in the casing of the rockets occurred and many exploded inhed after leaving the barrel or over the heads of German soldiers. This problem was solved in 1940 by changing the fuel to diglycol powder.
