You know that:

• Blitz brand was used by Opel as a brand name for bicycles long before they started producing vehicles ?
• The impetus for the development of Opel's light and medium military trucks was the desire to reduce the number of vehicle types in use from over 100 to 30 ?
• Since 1937, more than 70,000 have been produced in various versions ?
• In Germany, it was possible to buy a truck for civilian use with a fat subsidy, on condition that the owner handed it over to the army if necessary ?
• With the emerging fuel shortage, many were converted to wood gas in 1943 ?
• By the end of the war, Opel factories were suffering from a shortage of raw materials, so truck cabs were made of wood and plywood instead of steel ?
• The soldiers simply called these trucks Ersatz, "substitute" ?
• After the war, the Red Army dismantled the equipment of the Opel factories in order to transport it to the Soviet Union as war booty ?
• From 1974, the upgraded vehicles were also produced in the UK under the Bedford Flash brand ?
