Monopost BWT Alpine F1 Pit Stop COBI 1685 - Action Town 1:26
A model kit of a Formula 1 racing car from the French team BWT Alpine, including a PIT Stop. The assembled model and color scheme correspond to the real A524 car. The package also includes a figure of F1 pilot Pierre Gasly, which can be placed in the cockpit, and a figure of a mechanic. The kit is made under the official license of Alpine.
The history of the most famous car racing competition began with the dawn of motoring in 1906, when the French Automobile Club organized the first Grand Prix. The only technical limitation at that time was the maximum allowed car weight of 1000 kg.
Unfortunately, the promising motorsport soon faced the First and then the Second World War.
The first revived Grand Prix was held in 1947 in Czechoslovakia, and a year later it was renamed to the competition known today as F1.
The French racing team BWT Alpine (formerly Renault) has been preparing F1 cars since 2021.
The team prepares a new car for each season with a numerical series from A521 to A525. The last two digits represent the year of the racing season.
The A524 car is equipped with a modified Renault E-Tech RE24 1.6 V6t engine, with which the Alpine team competed in 24 Grand Prix races and scored 65 points.
The Renault engine shows impressive performance. The power unit, weighing 150 kg, produces over 708 kW at 15,000 RPM. The exact value is kept secret by the manufacturer.
The price for such high performance is a short lifespan, approximately 2,500 km, equivalent to 8 races. During the season, the racing team uses 3 engines.
For the 2025 season, Alpine has two drivers: Jack Doohan and Pierre Gasly, and two test drivers: Franco Colapinto and Paul Aron.
No F1 team can operate without its facilities, the so-called PIT Stops. Becoming a mechanic for live races is not for everyone. A well-coordinated team can change four tires in 1.91 seconds. The slightest incorrect movement, loss of balance, or team coordination is unacceptable. For comparison, in 1950 a tire change took 67 seconds. The only constant is that a poorly fitted tire was a disaster in 1950 as well as today.
Mechanics also train before each race, performing 80 tire changes within the required time. If they fail, the team is replaced.

British presenter Jeremy Clarkson:
,,I should have listened to Hammond when he told me not to go there. Changing the wheels on a single-seater looks so simple. But it’s not. Among otherwise well-coordinated mechanics, I managed to cause such a mess that the car went off without one wheel—my wheel."
