German tank destroyer Sd.Kfz. 139 MARDER III COBI 3050 - Company of Heroes 1:35
Kit model of the German tank destroyer MARDER III Sd.Kfz. 139 in Afrikakorps desert camouflage. The assembled model has a cannon with an adjustable aim. Crates, a canister and a shovel are attached to the sides of the vehicle. The tank tracks are functional and the model can be easily driven on a non-slip surface. The package also includes a figure of a German mechanic and a cube with a description.
The development of the MARDER tank fighter began in 1941 at Alkett.
The basis for the new machine was the excellent tank chassis of Czechoslovak design LT-38, which was produced by ČKD Praha under the German occupation.
The first pieces used captured Soviet F-22 guns, renamed PaK 36, as the main weapon. Later versions received German PaK 40/3 barrels.
The interior of the vehicle was somewhat cramped. It was possible to load 27-30 rounds on board, so a cart with additional ammunition was usually attached behind the Marder during the eastern campaign.
The machine had an open superstructure with light armour, a deficiency which was fully demonstrated in the fighting on the Eastern Front.
The open hull was covered with a waterproof tarpaulin in case of inclement weather.
The production price in 1942 was 54,785 Reichsmarks, about 225 600 € today.
A total of 1,736 units were produced in various versions.
After World War II, the tank fighters were included in the armament of the Czechoslovak Army under the designation ST-II.
