The building set with extensive accessories is set during the German offensive in the Ardennes. The model, tank number 413, is equipped with additional side armor, spare track links, and camouflage branches mounted on the sides. Fuel canisters, an ammunition crate, and an axe are attached to the engine deck. The cover can be removed to access the Maybach engine. The engine can also be displayed separately outside the model. The roof of the fighting compartment is removable for a view into the crew area. Inside, there is stored ammunition and a FuG5 radio station. The tank’s tracks are functional, allowing smooth movement on non-slip surfaces. The limited edition package includes a figure of Field Marshal Walter Model as the tank commander, a medic with a stretcher and first aid bag, a paratrooper armed with an anti-tank grenade launcher, and a tank driver figure. The package also contains a certificate with a unique serial number confirming the product’s authenticity and a display block with description.

The requirement for a new assault gun was issued by the German Armaments Office in September 1943. The conditions were a low silhouette and a powerful 75 mm KwK 42L gun, but these were in short supply in Germany. As a result, a tank destroyer based on the PzKpfw IV chassis armed with the 75 mm PaK 39 L/48 gun was developed. The new vehicle was presented to A. Hitler on his birthday. Only a few people knew that the demonstrated vehicle had a hull made of ordinary steel instead of armor plating. Representatives of the company Vomag took a considerable risk. Serial production began in January 1944. The frontal armor was reinforced to 80 mm.
In total, more than 2,000 units were produced in three versions by the end of the war.
Many Hetzer vehicles were deployed during Germany’s last desperate attempt to repel Allied forces, known as the Battle of the Bulge. In the background of this battle, fighting for the salient involved special German commando units under the designation Operation Greif. The SS operation, intended to create confusion and disrupt communications among Allied ranks, was personally commanded by Otto Skorzeny. German soldiers in American uniforms equipped with American equipment successfully infiltrated Allied units and caused chaos in command structures and mutual distrust among troops. However, the sabotage groups were soon uncovered and, despite initial success, had no decisive impact on the outcome of the battle.
A well-known event also occurred on December 26, 1944, when the American tank Sherman M4A3E2 commanded by Charles Boggess broke through the German defensive line and advanced toward Bastogne. At one of the intersections, the tank crew encountered a group of American soldiers engaged in friendly conversation. Boggess ordered the tank to stop to ask for directions. The soldiers willingly indicated the correct route and the tank continued on its way. The commander’s suspicion that he had encountered a sabotage group was confirmed shortly after the arrival of rear units.
The German soldiers in American uniforms could have easily destroyed the tank but did nothing. They were well aware that the battle was lost and no longer wished to continue fighting.

“At midnight on December 20, we deployed anti-tank guns on Malmedy Road and awaited the arrival of the Germans. When SS units managed to break through the lines of the 2nd Infantry Division, they turned their attention in our direction. In complete darkness, the Germans formed an assault group of hunchbacked Jagdpanzers, but we were ready. After we destroyed the first eight tanks with bazookas, the Germans retreated, but that was not the end. After reorganizing, they came again...”
