Building set of the upcoming limited-edition French Renault 5 Turbo 3E in a red, blue and black colour scheme, with a female racing driver figure wearing a black racing suit and yellow helmet. The car is parked next to a charging station. The scene is completed by lighting powered, naturally, by solar energy, as well as a waste bin with a touch of greenery. The building set is produced under an official Renault licence.
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E follows in the footsteps of the legendary racing cars of the early 1980s – the Renault 5 Turbo and Renault Maxi Turbo. The latter made a significant mark on rally history in 1985 with its victory at the Tour de Corse.
Around 2019–2020, the Renault brand was facing a difficult situation. Among its problems were its partnership with loss-making Nissan, high costs and, last but not least, COVID-19. In July 2020, Luca de Meo took over as CEO and introduced the Renaulution plan, which was primarily intended to renew and make the model range more attractive. Renault therefore returned to its roots and to one of its most successful models – the Renault 5 Turbo, which later gave rise to the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric. In 2022, on the 50th anniversary of the original Renault 5, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E was unveiled. The car was developed in cooperation between Renault and Alpine, with Alpine engineers responsible for developing its specific platform, chassis and electric powertrain.
The designers did not want to create just another ordinary modern small car. They wanted it to be immediately clear what the car was based on. That is why the Turbo 3E features very wide wheel arches and a short front end, distinctive side air intakes, a low roof and a wide track. The vehicle has two electric motors, with each motor powering one rear wheel. This is ideal for quick cornering, drifting and acceleration. The interior retains motorsport-inspired features such as sport seats, six-point harnesses, a vertical handbrake for drifting and a carbon structure.
Renault plans to produce only a symbolic 1,980 units, as a reference to the original Renault 5 Turbo, with each car individually numbered. Reservations opened in April 2025 and the expected price is €160,000. The first deliveries are planned for 2027; however, the Czech Republic is not listed in the official materials.

“A monster among cars, built for rally, drifting and track performance, adapted for road use.”
